Geng Metal

Geng is unwrought iron and the mountain-splitting axe: coarse, hard, edged with the season of reckoning. Autumn cuts everything back, and that is Geng's command — its mission is to decide and to harvest: sever what must end, gather what has ripened.

Geng's central image is "must pass through fire": ore that never enters the furnace stays a rock; struck by Ding's flame, stubborn iron becomes a sword. In a Geng Day Master's script, hardship is not an accident but the required manufacturing step — the more hammered the Geng, the brighter the blade.

Geng Day Masters are decisive and startlingly efficient — once the target is set, they move, no dithering. They are loyal to a fault, shielding their own, throwing themselves in when a friend is in trouble; on matters of principle they yield not an inch.

The weakness is hardness without curve: words straight as a blade cut people unintentionally; allergic to authority and to losing, they sometimes armor up until the armor becomes the wound. In a team Geng is the deadlock-breaker: when a project jams and someone must pound the table, Geng's value maxes out. What to avoid: chronically lukewarm, politics-heavy environments — nothing dulls Geng's edge faster. Give Geng a clear enemy (a target) and it beats ten job titles.

In love Geng is direct and clean: attracted means pursuing, decided means committed — zero patience for ambiguous push-and-pull. Its way of protecting is standing in front of you when trouble comes: plain, forceful, and often forgetting to ask whether you wanted shielding.

Yi-Geng is the "combination of kindness and duty": supple, clever Yi Wood types melt Geng's hardness best — the vine wrapping the axe, hard and soft completing each other.
