The Goat maps to the branch Wei. At the Wei hour (1–3 p.m.) the sun leans west and grass glows — the herd's most contented grazing time; the Wei month is high summer, when fruit begins to fill with sugar. The glyph's root meaning is exactly that: "not yet ripe — flavor on its way."
