The Snake maps to the branch Si. At the Si hour (9–11 a.m.) sunlight thickens and snakes emerge to warm their scales; the Si month opens summer, Yang rising toward — but not yet at — its peak. Folk tradition calls the Snake the "lesser dragon": it follows the Dragon in sequence and shares its serpentine form.

Si is Yin Fire hiding Bing, Geng and Wu: civilized flame on the surface, with metal and earth concealed beneath. That "metal hidden in fire" structure is the metaphysical footnote to the Snake's guarded depth — warmth on the outside, assets within.

The texts' keywords for Snake natives: penetration, composure, a needle sheathed in silk. Snake intelligence is the piercing kind — few words, but the ones spoken tend to land on the exact nerve; its emotional control is the zodiac's finest, calmest precisely when stakes are highest.

The shadow is suspicion and distance: trust builds at glacial speed, an exit is always kept in reserve, and even intimates can find the Snake unreadable. Its assignment: allow yourself to be seen occasionally — vulnerability is not a breach, it is the doorway to connection.

Si years (2025, 2037…) are the Snake's Ben Ming Nian; Hai (Pig) years clash Tai Sui — the Si-Hai clash reads as movement: long-haul travel and directional resets.

You and Chou years complete the Metal frame — for Snakes this often means "hidden stems cashing out": the Geng metal inside Si gains allies, and financial or partnership openings surface. Whether that metal is your wealth or your weight depends on the chart's preferences — a sentence that only acquires concrete meaning once your chart is cast.

Being a Snake fixes only the year branch, Si. Technically Si is Bing Fire's Lu throne, Geng Metal's birth stage, and one of the four Travel Horse branches — the folk note that Snakes "cannot sit still" originates there.
